I just cannot put it down. This book resonates with typical Australian humour as the author weaves his own story of struggle and triumph, joy and tragedy that has marked the past 25 years of life and work in Pakistan and Afghanistan. I found myself re-reading sections that had surprised me, moved me and at times had me quite literally laughing out loud. The deep insights into the culture, the description of human need and the moments of breakthrough in project developments and personal encounters have been thoughtfully and beautifully crafted. Grant Lock, and his ever supportive wife Janna, tell a very human account of everyday life in a very hard place. This book will give wonderful insight into life, culture and people. Compelling reading for westerners in particular who seek to understand and develop an informed view of one the world’s most difficult and troubled regions. Thrilling reading for Christians who will delight in the wonders, indeed miracles, of God’s grace reaching individuals and communities through His people who love people.
