eBooks at WORD - Reading Options

WORD provides a number of different options for you to read your eBooks.

Please select from the list below for more information:

Reading eBooks on your computer (PC or Mac)

To read eBooks from WORD on your desktop or laptop computer, you will need to download Adobe Digital Editions to your computer.

Adobe Digital Editions can be used to:
  • Read your purchased eBooks, without needing to be online.
  • Organise your eBooks into a custom library.
  • Transfer your eBooks to supported handheld devices.
To download Adobe Digital Editions to your computer, please click the button to the right.

A free Adobe ID is strongly recommended for use with Digital Editions. You can click here to sign up for an Adobe ID if you do not have one already.

Using your Adobe ID, you will need to authorise your computer with this ID when you install Digital Editions. If you choose not to authorise with an Adobe ID, please be aware that:
  • You will only be able to download your purchased eBooks to one computer only. Authorising allows you to keep your books on as many as 6 computers or devices.
  • You can only transfer your eBooks from Digital Editions to your supported eBook reader only if you authorise both your computer and your eBook reader.
  • If you choose not to authorise, and then you authorise your computer using an Adobe ID which has already been used to authorise another computer, all the eBooks you downloaded while your computer was unauthorised will no longer work.

Please note: Adobe Digital Editions makes use of .acsm and .epub file types - if these file types are not directly associated to Adobe Digital Editions, file types may not open as intended. To check and/or associate these file types to Adobe Digital Editions, you need to access your computer's Control Panel, and open the 'Default Programs' window. You will be able to then set associations for all known file types. For a guide, please click here.
